6. Milungui / Mkuzi Walk - walking time - 4 hours - 40$

Features/Descriptions:

Walk towards Masange Village (refer Walk # 6) through the Forest Reserve up to the football pitch. Cross the Mkuzu River via the bridge and walk on the road towards Milungui through the Forest Reserve. You follow this road (7 km) for about 30 - 40 minutes and take your time to watch birds and colobus monkeys. After you have come out of the forest you will pass through homesteads and cultivated fields on both sides of the road. Keep on walking following the road, which is winding and steep in some places until you reach Kwefingo Village, where you turn left after the Mkuzu Creek Resort sign board. After a few metres, you reach sharp corner in the middle of Kwefingo Village, turn left again and walk along the road or foot path downhill through Kweshewa Village. You keep on walking down the hill until you reach the road to Kifungilo Mission and turn left and walk on.

You will pass through the forest Reserve, past the bridge (refer walk # 5: Mvuezi Falls) and continue on this road until you reach Kifungilo Mission and Mkuzu Creek Resort. Alternatively, you may wish to turn right at Kwefingo Village and follow the road towards Lushoto. You will see cultivated fields and homesteads on both sides of the road. At Migambo Village, you will see a sign board of Grants Lodge. You may wish to walk in and rest for a some time, while taking a cold drink. After the brief rest at Grants Lodge, you walk back to the min road to Lushoto, turn left and continue for about 5 minutes and you will find the junction to Kifungilo, where you turn left again. You follow this road back to Kifungilo and Mkuzu Creek Resort.

Intensity Level:

Moderate, but long distance. You will need stamina for this walk and comfortable shoes are mandatory. This walk enables you to walk through the Forest Reserve, where you can be lucky to see the colobus monkeys and variety of birds.
